From Karebu Secure plugin, coming from JSecure, CG Secure plugin secures your administration access.
Once activated, CG Secure checks that country coming from IP address is authorized and protects access to /administrator by adding a password to it.
IP address is checked against AbuseIPDB database which returns a country code associated to IP address. It also check if IP is known in the database as being a hacker IPaddress.
In case of an unauthorized country connection, you may automatically report IP address to AbuseIPDB, after registration (it's free).
Connection errors may be stored in cgipcheck.trace.log file, in your logs directory.
I use View Logs component to check my log files.
Unauthorized user won't even see administration form.
From version 1.0.5, rejected IP addresses IP are stored in Joomla's database (table #__cg_rejected_ip). These addresses remain in the database depending on "IP Life time"parameter.
How access to your administration once CG Secure has been actived.3
- HTTP Authentication: standard Apache authentication. You'll have to enter a password in "Password" field, "Username" field may remain empty as it's not checked,
- Compatibility: you'll have to enter http://www.yourwebsite.com/administrator?yourpassword— "yourpassword" being the password you entered in CG Secure plugin.
